Becoming an SME for IP
(Non-emergency)

1. Create GTRN Account
  • Login
  • Accept Privacy disclaimer
2. Update/Complete your profile
  • Education, accreditations, languages, supporting documents, field experience,
  • Upload your resume
3. Apply to one or multiple Specialty areas (sectors)
  • Select area/s of expertise
  • Agree to core competencies once
  • Complete Approaches and methods, competencies for each area
4. Complete SME assessment (for IP only)  

5. Provide availability and rate (for IP only)

I have applied - what next?

1. Manager approval
  • automatically notified, does not need account to approve
  • Regional Sector Lead is notified and can provide comments (optional)
2. Global lead validation
3. Notification to candidate on validation results

Being an SME

1. Maintain availabilty and rate (for IP only) yearly
2. Respond to Engagement requests
3. Assist with TOR, Budget and MOU on request
4. Submit review after engagements
Becoming an SME for ER

  • Education, accreditations, languages, supporting documents, field experience,
  • Upload your resume
  • Attach your MoU (generic, RDMT or HEARTT) - optional
3. Apply to one or multiple Specialty areas (sectors)
  • Agree to core humanitarian competencies once
  • Complete core competencies
  • Complete Approaches and methods, competencies for each area
4. Provide availability for ER deployments.

2. Global lead validation
3. Notification to candidate on validation results

Being an SME

1. Maintain Availability for ER deployments
2. Submit review after engagements
Getting an SME for IP only  

Open a one page guide here

1. Create GTRN Account

2. Create request, select area of expertise, and select preferred SME.

3. Send request for Regional Sector Lead review or bypass step (regional sector lead still notified).

4. Regional Sector Lead reviews request then notifies creator to proceed.

5. Creator sends Invitation to SME.

6. SME accepts the engagement invitation.

7. Finalize TOR, upload MOU and complete budget for engagement.

8. Submit review after engagement.
